How to become a christian science nurse
To train as a Christian Science nurse one must:
- be a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston MA, USA, as outlined in the Manual bylaw
- have had Primary Class instruction in Christian healing
- have a good, demonstrable knowledge of Christian Science
- be an active member of a branch Church where possible
- attend Le Verger’s one day seminar/webinar “The Spiritual Dimension of Care”
Christian Science nursing is a calling to a ministry – not merely a job. As a sincere student of Christian Science, your desire is to serve God and your fellow man. Consecration to this ministry is fully rewarded by spiritual growth through a deeper understanding and application of divine Science. It is a specialized kind of practice based on the foundation of spiritual healing as taught by our Pastor.
Training includes classroom sessions and practical experience. The ethics of Christian Science nursing are thoroughly covered as well as mentoring for practical skills. There are 4 Levels of Christian Science nurse training, completion of which allows for application to advertise in The Christian Science Journal. Students can move through the levels at their own pace and completion time average is 4-6 years for proficiency and readiness for Journal-listing.
