A talk by Griff Henninger, Director of Historical Perspectives at Tenacre Foundation

Introduction by Barb Waite

Welcome to everyone.

We are blessed to have our speaker, Griff Henninger, Director of Historical Perspectives at Tenacre Foundation (NJ USA), share his research and insights with us today on the expanding idea we call: Christian Science nurse.

A little background on Griff’s journey:

Griff holds two graduate master degrees in the Fine Arts. In 1987 he completed his Christian Science nurse’s training at Tenacre Foundation, advertised in the Journal in 1989, then in 1996, he became Director of the Tenacre School of Christian Science Nursing.

In 2004 Griff took early retirement and in 2016 he was rehired by Tenacre as Director of Historic Perspectives.

Griff has given a series of talks on Mary Baker Eddy, including “Mrs. Eddy in the Context of her Time”, which he presented to The Mother Church Board of Directors, who then invited him back to present the talk to The Mother Church Managers.

Griff has also given a series of workshops entitled “Mary Baker Eddy and the Miscellaneous Writing Years, 1883-1897.” In October 2018 Griff gave a three-hour version of that workshop at Arden Wood, and a one-hour version to the Longyear Museum’s research staff.

Griff has also given talks at the International CS Nursing Conferences over the years, and this talk – the full 4 hr version – has been presented to the Christian Science nursing students at Tenacre School of Christian Science Nursing.

Griff’s invaluable contribution, ‘Tracing the Origins of the Manual of the Mother Church By-Law Christian Science Nurse’, is bound to broaden our thinking and touch our hearts.
